Echoes of Unity and Patriotism:
Commemorating the 10th Anniversary

of the 2016 Arbitral Award

This 12 July 2026, we commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the 2016 Arbitral Award—a defining moment in our nation’s history that affirmed the Philippines’ lawful maritime rights and entitlements in the West Philippine Sea, under international law.

More than a legal victory, this milestone is deeply personal. It is about the lives and livelihoods of our brave fisherfolk, the resilience of our coastal communities, preservation and protection of our marine environment, and the economic security of our entire nation.

Justice and truth can prevail, no matter how great the challenge. By standing firm, we are not just protecting what is rightfully ours; we are securing the food supply, heritage, and marine resources that belong to our youth and the generations of Filipinos yet to come.

As one nation, let us honor this milestone by standing together in solidarity, taking pride in our shared heritage, and reaffirming our commitment to protect our seas.

As part of our significant celebrations, at exactly 10 AM on 12 July 2026,
wherever you are, sound your vehicle’s horn 10 times to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award.

Let every horn echo our unity, patriotism, and unwavering belief that right defies might. Let it remind the world that a nation’s true strength is not measured by its military or economic might, but by the justice of its cause.

The maritime community will also simultaneously blow their ships’ horns in ports, harbors and at sea nationwide 10 times.

Church bells will toll 10 times as a prayerful and solemn reminder for the faithful of the Award.

Sama-sama nating ipakita ang pagkakaisa para sa ating karagatan, sa ating mga mangingisda, sa ating Coast Guard at Navy, marine scientists, sa ating pamahalaan, at sa kinabukasan ng susunod na henerasyon.
